The Marriage Equality Cabaret – Thanks to everyone for a great show!

We would like to send out a great big note of thanks to all of the amazing performers who took the stage for The Marriage Equality Cabaret this past Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at the Rotunda in Philadelphia, PA. The acts were universally brilliant.
Highlights included: John Jarboe of The Bearded Ladies and Dito (Martha Graham Cracker) van Reigersberg in a touching and hilarious salute to our men in uniform; Brotherly Love, the small ensemble of the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus, delivering a stirring and heartfelt preview of their upcoming “Pearl Necklace” cabaret; Ed “Rave On” Marra rocking the stage as Buddy Holly; The Parodivas and their side-splitting and titillating song stylings and choreography; killer standup sets from Philly fave Jess Carpenter and NYC’s own Robb Coles; the achingly beautiful voices of Singer Songwriter Crystal Cheatham and Singer Nathan Nolen Edwards; a fantastic allegorical number from the always provocative Lords of Liechtenstein; and the tender harmonies of Chrissy Pryor and Pete Rawstron.
The evening was capped by a surprise appearance by Edith Piaf (direct from her grave in France) with the Bearded Ladies. Thank you, Edith, and thank you, Ladies, for delivering a powerful call to arms in the fight for Marriage Equality.
We would also like to thank our fabulous house staff: Stage Manager John Carlin, Rotunda Director (and lighting tech) Gina Renzi, Sound Tech Frank Bellina, and our house staff volunteers, Tracy Jones and Jason Taylor.
And lastly but not leastly, our eternal thanks and gratitude to Freedom to Marry, Equality Pennsylvania, Keystone Equality, the Human Rights Campaign, and all the wonderful organizations working tirelessly to achieve Marriage Equality.
