Vickie, thanks! I actually grew up watching TV variety shows–my favorite being The Carol Burnett Show. I really wanted to do something that would reflect the golden age of variety, from Ed Sullivan on up to Sonny and Cher, the Jim Stafford Show… and back to the early days of Vaudeville. The Five Minute idea was just the result of trying to find a phrase, a name for the show, that would really reflect that spirit. Once I had the name, that dictated the structure–nothing longer than 5 minutes. Hopin’ to see you both there!
Sounds like a wonderful idea! This reminds me of the Melange Theatre Live, which used to be at the Rotunda. This should be at least as entertaining — maybe more! I’m curious as to how you came up with this idea.
My husband and I will try to make it.
Thanks!
