Performer Updates for the next Five Minute Follies on January 14th, 2011 in Philadelphia

Anthony Salazar

Here are some updates on the bill for the next Five Minute Follies, scheduled for Friday, January 14th, 2011 at the Rotunda in Philadelphia:

New acts include Comedy Magician/Illusionist Anthony Salazar, Poet/Actor and author of “Tears of a Ghetto Child” John Frisby, Hoop Dancer Sarah Maccarelli, and the extremely talented vocal group Kneehigh Spunk.

We also have a couple of changes to the lineup of acts. Unfortunately, Belly Dancer Fatima Bassmah will not be able to join us for the January 14th, 2011 Follies. She has been given an opportunity to visit Egypt and we wish her all the best. Look for her return at a future Follies!

Also, vintage rock and roll band Crazy Man Crazy will not be able to play at the Follies. They are still seeking a new guitarist. Crazy Man Crazy lead singer Michael Subvert will of course still be emcee-ing the Follies and performing.

Here’s wishing you all a Happy Holiday and we’ll see you in January for the Follies!

Acts announced for the next Five Minute Follies, Friday, January 14th, 2011 in Philadelphia

Fatima Bassmah

The next Five Minute Follies, slated for Friday, January 14th, 2011 at the Rotunda in Philadelphia, is shaping up to be even better than the last one. We already have a wonderful array of new and returning acts, with more to be announced in the future.

Returning acts include Jazz Singer Peter Redmond, Belly Dancer Fatima Bassmah, Singer Songwriter Rasan Allbritton, and the White Elephant Burlesque Society. Joining these Follies veterans will be the Shakespearean comedy troupe The Mad Mechanicals, standup comedians Jess Carpenter and Alejandro Morales, Jazz Singer Melanie Martins, and the father/daughter Improv Duo Grandma Hates Technology (featuring Mike and Jessica Weiss).

Please note, we’re still looking for acts. If you can do something surprising, entertaining, thought-provoking, or otherwise interesting in 5 minutes or less, drop us a line. We are especially interested in dancers and circus/sideshow acts (sword swallowing, contortionists, jugglers, etc.). The more unique and unusual your act, the better! Please send links to video and/or audio of your act to

See you at the show!
